Default More hard disk space...help required

I'm toying with the idea of getting some more HD space.

I have 90GB left on my PC.

I'm a hobbying DV editor but am looking to release my services to the world at large. I'd like more space if I'm working on other peoples DV.

Question: I've seen a Maxtor 250GB 7200 external hard drive for £150. Is this a good deal?

Question: Can I edit in Prem Pro from media that is stored on an external HD (Ie is the firewire transfer fast enough?)

Question: Does anyone have a feel if there is a "market" for editing services for the Home Camera User (Weddings, footage of the kids etc etc)
WHat sort of price do you think I could charge (if people were willing to pay?)

Thank

Dean

It probably does exist, but would probably not be worth your efforts.

because:

Sites like these tell you how to do it yourself. I think the only editing service that would be profitable would be B2B rather than consumer. And then you'd have to invest a lot in your rigs...

Probably a hangover from when external HDD could not sustain throughput but Adobe do not support external drives for video editing. At least they didn't last time I looked.

Default hard drive

I got one of these drives recently, it works fine with premiere, it's easy to install and it's cheaper than the external, you can get 250G models for under £90 too.
