Default Problems with sony ex 1 footage

I am editing footage shot on sony ex1.
I get a perceptable jump on cuts between footage. It looks like there is a black frame between the cuts but there isnt or sometimes like there is one frame of crossfade.
I am shooting 1080i sp and the premiere project is set to same. I have 4GB ram (I know my 32 bit machine will only see up tp 3.5GB) an Intel core 2 2.13Ghz processor, 7200 speed drives which have all been defragmented.
Can anyone help?
