I've been editing a 28 min video in Elements. The app works fine in editing and output, including full screen playback but:
1. it won't close down other than via Windows Task Manager
2. opening any other app. crashes Elements

significant symptom...

Whenever I open Elements, in the bottom right corner of the screen there is a slot with a notice 'conforming (filename).wmv' and a stuck blue progress bar?

Any idea how I can correct this? It is liveable but very tedious.

CPU P4 3.00GHz
1GB RAM
XPpro

Sounds like there is an element of background conversion going on for your wmv file, which is eating resources and making elements perform sluggishly. Suggest that you convert this to another codec before import, or be patinet and let elements do wjat is wants to do. This shoudl be a once and for all thing - once conformed, it will save this as a temp file.
