Default Adobe Premier CS3 - is it any good?

I'm thinking of buying Adobe Premier CS3. I've heard bad things about previous versions, but been told the latest version is right up there with Avid and Final Cut Pro.

I don't have a lot of experience so what do you all think?

What have you heard about the old versions ? I think CS3 is quite good and if it had those so called problems in the past all the others had too, it's normal they are improving, I like adobe premiere and i've been using it since version 1.5 and you can always download a trial version and use it for 30 days.
I heard that final cut pro is very good but you need a mac for that and if you don't own one and do not plan to buy one forget about final cut . It gives you cs3 and sony vegas you can try both for free during 30 days. Final cut pro does not have trial versions either you buy it or not .
Peace out

Premiere CS3 is great. I've used Final Cut Pro a little bit, but overall they're about the same. I'm sure there are a few differences, I'm guessing both for and against either program, but I don't think you'll be disappointed. Premiere is a great program that does everything I need it to.

It also integrates well with Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects, so it opens up more possibilities in terms of using bitmap and vector images and special effects within Premiere projects.
