Default fade in

ok firstable i have edited with pretty good equpment ten years ago last time in school. there was when goin pic to pic was fade in and out. i don't find that kind of thing in premiere 6.5. its seems that some dissolve (cross dissolve i believe) is almost same but i think that is not good to use. so what should use what you think? meaning lets say going from black screen to movie itself.

and when adding text how do i put there fading?

thx

Simply use the cross disolve transition next to black video (or a blank timeline)

I'd use the Opacity controll to fade in to (or out to) black.
Select your clip and go to the "effect controll" window and use keyframes to make the clip go from 0% opacity to 100% (for a fade in). Adjust the distance between the keyframes to adjust the lenght of the fade.
