Default Cannot open project (Premiere 6)

I was just adding captions to images when I got the message 'A serious error has occured and we need to close down Premiere'. Now I can't open the project file again.
I can open Premiere, and click on the project title, then it looks like it's opening but gets so far and closes down again with the same error message.
Can anyone help?

Do you have any saved versions?

Try starting the program while holding down the Ctrl + ATL + Shift keys, that will clear any preferences and cache that may have become corrupted allowing you to open the project.

HI Chuck

No, I don't have any saved versions.
I'll try your tip to see if that helps.

That didn't work, Chuck. When I was trying to open the project the usual 'Checking files' came up as it was loading, then towards the end when it should open the words changed to: 'Loading project entries', which I've never seen before. That's when it shuts itself down and sends an 'error report' to Microsoft.
Any clues?

Create a new Windows User/Logon, try to open the program using the new logon.
This is a known fix for a corrupt user registry entry.

There are a number of reasons why the application won't open, they can include a bad Quicktime update, out of date audio or video drivers, and other things.

Quicktime just came out with an update that wasn't compatible with some Adobe products.
Check for a newer Quicktime update, that may also fix the problem.

Tried all that, Chuck, but still cannot open. I can open other project files, and I can access all the captured clips, so unless some other help arrives it looks like I might have to start from the beginning again. Keeping a back-up copy this time!
