Default Shaky text titles

I’m using Elements 3.0 and I’m wondering if there is any way I can produce ‘shaky titles’ for my opening sequence?

To expand on what I mean; you often see horror movies where by the actors name will come up on the screen and it sort of snaps in and out of focus or has a scribble like quality to it, like someone has agitated the text.

Is it possible I can achieve this in elements?

As always, many thanks in advance.

There are tons of effects, have you taken a look and given any of them a try?
There are quite a few new effects in version 4 but you should still be able to easily accomplish this in version 3.

Try one of the Distort Effects, or the Transform, Time, or Stylize effects.
Sometimes it is just trial and error until you find the one that works for you.

Check out some of the tutorials on titles and keyframing at muvipix.com and videoinasnap.com those will help. The forum at muvipix has a number of very good effects people, you can ask there and someone has probably already done it.

Went through the presets in the video effects and the closest I could find for what I was after was fast blur in and out. Looks fine, I just don't get the 'shaky, bad scribble' type things I was looking for.

The only other way I see that being achievable is lots of frames witht he text slightly moved from one to another. Still open to suggestions.

This might help
Heron Productions

Outside of After Effects (which would make this very easy) there isn't a lot that can be done with version 3.

Version 4 has a new 'Earthquake' effect that would probably work for you.
