hi guys im just wondering if Adobe After Effects is useful in creating videos,because right now im using Sony Vegas 5 and 6 and i just want ot explore more of the tools i can get from adobe stuffs. can you guys help me on some of the features adobe after effects does? is it a video editor like sony vegas or just effect maker?

If you just want to edit videos and apply scene transitions and medium level effects, then you need a video editing program such as Adobe Premiere Elements or the more expensive Adobe Premiere Pro. After Effects is a special effects program where you can create all kinds of effects including blue and greenscreen, wire removal, there's a particle generator for making everything from rain to smoke to expolosions and matte and mask creation, high end stuff to say the least... so it's really up to yourself as to what you want to achieve.
