Default please please help me

Hi can anyone help me. I realise that this should maybe go in the hardware forum and I have done that, but got only one reply and that was an advert relating to viagra. I need serious answers only people, and I have had nothing but help for this section of site, so for that reason I am posting it here as I may get some serious help.

Anyway onto the problem.

I did some filming over the weekend and I used a hand held camera and a another camera on a tripod to shoot for another angle. My plan is to use the sound from the main camera I was holding over the cuts I make to the other camera on the tripod. Anyway in a nutshell please help me someone.

The other camera on the tripod was not mine, and seems like the camera head were either damaged or need cleaning and I cant play the tape.

The werid thing is when I was pressing record on the camera, it was recording, it was coming up in big red text on the view finder, and didnt say there was a problem as most digital cameras do., Put when I played the tape in my camera, I get a pure while screen with little pixelated squareds dotted about the place and no sound?

Please tell me someone has over come this before? I have searched the fourms for similiar problems and what I was typing into the search didnt produce the results I want. Is there anything to clean the mini dv tape with?

I have no way of getting the chance to film this again without it costing me and thats moeny I dont have, the footage is there, I just need to play it.

Please somebody help and thanks in advance

Adam

It sounds like it maybe didn't record correctly, however are you able to borrow that camera again, maybe it will play ok in that one. you might just get lucky!

Sounds like the footage isn't there at all. My guess is that the tripod-mounted cam had dirty heads. If that is the case, no amount of cleaning the tape will help.

It may be an alignment issue. Tapes recorded in one camera sometimes fail to play back properly in another, particularly when long play recording modes are used.

I'd do as Raj suggests - try borrowing the tripod-mounted camera again, or one like it. If it refuses to playback in it then I suspect that you are stuffed...
