If there's anybody who wants to take another shot in either:

- Having Premiere Pro 2.0 import videos with MP3 audio

or

- Determine what's wrong with the MP3 audio in the clip from this clip (1,5MB, 2 seconds)

...I and many others would be really grateful!

I think we've proved that the particular file does not seem to be compatible with Premiere pro. no idea why. I documented my findings in my previous post and it seems every video playing app I have deals with it differently and so the whole thing appears inconsistent. Curious.

At this point I would be tempted to go back to first principals (never a bad idea when problems occur).

in your first post you said
I have made my clip Huffy AVI's with MP3 audio
so I presume you 'built' this file. My question to you is what was your ultimate source used for building this curious single file? If it's a tape can it be recaptured? Clearly it's not working how it is so can it be 'built' into an different format that your s/w does like?

Hi Alan,

I don't wanna give the idea that I neglect your contribution, I just wanted to see if there were more people with the same problem, who maybe took action to solve it that we didn't think of.

The reason I work with these codecs if because I am working on a compilation, and my friends contribute all kinds of different formats (from phones, VHS camera's (captured through different kinds of hardware), digital cameras). I use VirtualDub(Mod) to load all these different formats, and export them all as the same: huffyuv (HuffYUV) and MP3 audio. That's how I ended up with all these loose clips in this format.

The reason I have a hard time letting this subject go, is because I thought MP3 is so very "universal", it wouldn't cause so much trouble. Unfortunately I was wrong :(

"Good news everyone!"

I just found a great solution to my problem. I'm using a wonderful tool called MediaCoder (MediaCoder - more than a universal audio/video transcoder) that can easily batch convert all videos in (recursive!) directories. I just set the codec to HuffyUV (which is lossless) and I convert all audio to WAV. It works like a charm, and I'm very happy!

The only downside is that it keeps opening windows in my browser with links to MediaCoder's site. In exchange for the good job it does I'm gonna act like it's not happening
