Either will be good enough to edit great movies on. They both allow the capture, editing and final DVD/web delivery that most people need.
The real issue is not about which one is technically the best. Assuming your PC's spec is OK for either, the best software is the one that you get on with easiest.
Both products enjoy a huge Internet knowledge-base, so help will never be too far away.
My advice is to download the free trials. Put some time aside to edit a short film on both products, from start to finish. Make them relatively straightforward projects, but include some compositing, titling, transitions, and audio effects.
You will soon discover which one suits you best.
Don't get too hung up on specs - Hitchcock could have made a classic with Windows Movie Maker.
