Question Splitting large video into smaller clips?

I am using Adobe Premiere 2.0 and I have captured a 5 minute video clip.

How do I split that file into smaller AVIs?

Cheers

Maybe this sounds a bit n00b-ish, but since I don't have any experience with Premiere yet, I am suggesting you could import the clip in Windows Movie Maker (not the best app, I know but I always use it to capture footage and it does the job) and check the box that says something like: "Split imported footage into clips". You can then of course export the clips back to Premiere for further editing. I guess this is more of a workaround, but still.

Hope this helps.

I used Windows Movie Maker to capture and split footage from a standard Panasonic MiniDV camera but it doesn't capture footage correctly from a Sony DCR-VX2000E correctly so I've had to use Adobe Premiere 2.0.

You can open the clip in the trimmer and set an in- and outpoint for the first part you want to extract and put it on the timeline, then export that to a dv avi, repeat the same for the other parts you want to take out. In this way you have seperate avi's on your harddrive which you can use in any way you want or if you don't export them you can use the clips directly on the timeline (That's called editing )

Another quick way is to just drag the whole clip on the timeline and use the razortool to cut it into smaller pieces

Sorry mate, then I can't really help you. Hopefully someone that knows more shows up soon.

Edit: ^ That just happened apparently
