Premiere Pro 2 Crashes Using Link Media

What I'm trying to do is replace a source clip with a higher quality one. What I do is make it offline in the Project Manager and then use Link Media. But everytime I use "Link Media", Premiere "encounters a serious error and must close". Any idea what's wrong?
