Default I cannot see the capture I made in Premiere Pro 1.5

I try the premiere pro 1.5 to make my videos but I left this solution because I cannot work with the videos that I capture.I use a Theatre 550 pro to capture things from my VCR or from my DVD.I use Asus VCR to make the captures and I save them in Avi format. In premiere 6 I don't have problems to work with them.I import and all works well,in Premiere pro 1.5 the same videos when I import instead of viewing them when I make play I only see a black screen all the time.It seems to me that Premiere Pro 1.5 is much better than Premier 6 but I have to use Premiere 6 because of this problem. What could be the problem?

I suspect a codec issue.

Does Asus VCR give you any options for capturing AVI files? If you could capture them as DV AVI files you will not have any problems using them in Premiere.

Virtual dub can be used to capture video from hardware cards too. It may provide a workaround.
