Question Please help! Image problems in Elements

I have recently purchased Adobe Premiere Elements. I've downloaded footage off my DV camcorder but when I try to edit it the the footage it won't play smoothly. It jumps a lot and keeps sticking on frames.

I haven't got the world's greatest PC but I think I have the requirements: Windows XP Home Edition, 140gb of hard drive free, 512 ddr, Intel Celeron 2.4 Ghz.

I used to do video editing years ago in the days of edit suites and I did use Adobe Premiere briefly when it first came out but I am completely new to digital video.

I think I have the settings right as I am using PAL and as far as I know the frame rate should be standard.

Please help! I have been waiting ages to be able to make my own videos again and now I can't do a thing with it!

Have a look at what is running on your pc while you are editing. I would say your pc is on the border line if not below for what you want to do. I would shut down anything you do not need(ie internet, virus software, firewall etc) while editing, which will free up your RAM. Failing that i would buy another stick of 512 ddr and that should sort your problem out.
