Prepare Logo Outline Path using Illustrator.
Copy and Paste to Mask Path.

hmmm, sounds like it's time to break the shrink-wrap on those manuals to me!

Seriously though, although this forum exists here you can see that it is sparsly populated and I'm not sure our community has any real experts on this tool as yet.

All tutorials I've looked at on the web have author details available. I suggest you either contact the author and/or open the example project file that came with the tutorial and just have a look at the thing to see what it is.

Sounds like a spline path to me.
