Default From HDV 1080i to Mpeg2 or Quicktime-DVPAL?

Hello

I've got a HDV Sony HVR-A1E cam. I open a project in Premiere Pro 2.0
--->HDV 1080i 25 (Sony 50i)
I'm gonna send my project to different TV channels, and they all want different formats sent over the internet

Can someone tell me how to make the different Formats (and good enough for TV -in that case as good as possible):

Mpeg2 12mb/pr sec (it needs to be a file with the ending mymovie.mpg or mymovie.mpeg. I can only get the file mymovie.m2v )

Quicktime QUICKTIME PAL-DV(also god enough for TV)

Please help me!

I would suggest you ask the TV companieswhat format they want / need. They will most probably be rather specific. As for the file extensions, well, they are merely letters appended to a file name. Simply change m2v to mpg or mpeg. m2v is typically used as the extension to denote an elementary MPEG video stream (i.e. video only).

To send over the internet seems a bit extreme for high quality.

thank you for replying. the cuts are not gonna be that long. maybe 1-2 minutes. so high quality is not gonna be the biggest problem. FTP servers, and good speed...

I didnt understand what you explained about the m2v...

could you try to be a bit more spesific

1) Open up Windows Explorer and browse your m2v file
2) Go Tools > Folder Options > View, then uncheck Hide Extensions For Known File Types
3) Click OK
4) Right click on the file, and change the file name from *.m2v to *.mpg

It is an MPEG-2 stream, just that it has a different file extension. You could give them a file with an m2v extension. Hell, you could give it the extension 'pants' and it would still be an MPEG, which is what they want .

I use and recommend the pants extension. Which is a blessing to us all.

I can see it now...

Dear Sirs

... please find enclosed the video files you requested. You'll find they're pants files though and not the MPEG2s expected.

best Regards...
lol
