Default .flv in Premier 1.5?

Hello there, first time caller - long time listener.

I'm having a problem with converting .flvs for use in Premier.

Using the YouTubeX utility, I've downloaded clips - both as .htm and .flv files. Virtualdub doesn't recognise the files obviously, and using Total Video Converter I have changed them into mpg4 .avis, lossless .avis and DivX .avis.

Premier still doesn't support them and VirtualDub won't open them either.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ouch. Editing and subsquently rendering converted flash files will end up with terrible quality. Why are you using these videos? What is you ultimate aim? I would strngly suggest you find an alternate source.

Well.. really because the specific footage I want on this occasion, and no doubt in the future, is available on youtube.

The problem being that youtube videos, to my limited knowledge, can only be downloaded in .flv formats.

Surely I can't be the only person to come across this problem?

Found the answer - thought I'd share it in case anyone else wants to know...

The adobe forums pointed me in the direction of STOICK Video Converter 2, a freeware app. Lo and behold, perfect renderings of .flv into lossless .avi and a variety of other formats.

Currently editing footage of Hitler into semi-amusing dance movements

And no - this isn't a spam ad
