I don't think you lose anything from not having effects. Maybe it gains a little by not distracting from the subject. I agree with the suggestion to do a sampler. Bookers don't want to spend time going through whole songs, they just need to check out a few seconds of each to get a taste and be sure you're competent.

GoPro Studio software is no longer supported, but you can still download it. It can remove the fisheye effect from at least some GoPro files. It will crop a bit from the edges, so you need to frame the shot a little wide in anticipation.

Creative use of a single very wide angle viewpoint with the crops. I'd crop into e.g. the singer a little sooner, for example around 59 seconds he starts to sing and you crop in a second later. Feels a bit weird to me. Don't really mind the effects but not too keen on the old film look. Would in that case rather prefer a decent black and white image instead. In terms of replacements there's a few options to consider. I am going to assume that you still want to go with a single static...

What I like about the straight video is that it gives a true representation to a promoter of what he will be getting. If I was in his position I might think you're trying to make a live performance look livlier by adding the effects. Not necessarily a bad thing (because it shows you are putting effort into your promotional material), What i would be inclined to do is to show about 30 seconds of several songs, maybe with a complete performance of one song at the end, for if the propoter is...

Tim, Once again, huge thanks for the great feedback. So appreciated. Yes, just one camera at this show with a single shot. It's all the footage I have unfortunately. I do have 2 x Zoom Q2n's which I use for most gigs. I originally bought a Q2n because of the mics and wide lens which enabled me to record the band. Thought I'd lost it so bought another one then found the original, hence 2. I'm not happy with the Zoom now and have been looking for a replacement but can't decide what to get. I...

From a promotional perspective, having some kind of live performance video is practically required. You've ticked that box. Given that, I don't think the effects matter too much either way. They didn't do all that much for me, but I don't really mind them.

Hmmm. Can't say I'm a big fan of the zooms or the over-brightened bit, and whilst I didn't mind the old film look, I can't say it added anything. I did quite like the white squiggles though! I wonder if you're limited to one camera capturing a performance from one angle, whether it's better just to leave it as a straight record of the event, Or possibly mix in some totally different footage? As it stands it just looks like someone trying to create something from a single shot (which I guess...

Yep I've had that in te back of my mind and I can't talk from much experience but I did watch some e-sports footage and generally enjoyed it more if it was well constructed in its aim to entertain. I felt that lacking here.

I'm assuming this will come off blunt but since you asked: I didn't like this. I think it's just footage of someone playing a game which might be mildly interesting in other people that are familiar with that game but not really to a broader audience. When I would look at it from the perspective of someone who plays the game I don't feel this brings anything spectacular, interesting or worthwhile I wouldn't have seen a million times over either in similar videos or by, you know, actually...

I get the feeling that tutorial you're working with is a bit backwards. The way to do it properly as far as I know is to just select the "Audio MP3" profile. From the official VLC help pages: What the author of that tutorial is doing is using the profile to export to h264 and then adjusting the settings so it only contains audio instead of the more usual "audio + video" and then saving it into an MP3 extension. That's also why I suspect they select WAV. All the other options will ...

A reasonable question. However there is no option to encapsulate as an MP3 and you have to choose something! From what I can ascertain Encapsulation is simply the act of putting the video and audio sources into one container. But here the container is an MP3. Except apparently MP3 is not really a container. I'm all in favour of trying to understand things, but there is a limit and I long ago reached the point with codec/containers etc where so long as I gind something that works, and words...

We are going for more of a underground sound and are very influenced by bands of that era so you are correct. You can find more of our music on Spotify, Youtube and other streaming serivces. Sorry for the late response, I have not had time to browse much on forums the last month or so. Thanks for the kind words/ Alexander :)

I'm currently following a guide on how to convert videos to MP3 in VLC. This is a link to the article which provides the steps involved during the process: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/2719/how-to-convert-video-files-formats-to-mp3-with-vlc/ But what I'm confused about is why they recommend/suggest/ tell you to set the encapsulation...

Something along those lines would be most efficient. No need for it to be a video file until you're done putting your own visual content on it.

Reaper is free to try, and the fully functional demo continues to work after the trial period, but with a 15 second nag screen. It's a DAW (digital audio workstation) with some basic video editing features. Free software that does more video editing includes Shotcut and DaVinci Resolve.

Good morning to everyone! A few days ago I had the good fortune to make a 2 day trip with a rare and unique VW model, the 1984 Volkswagen Transporter t3 or t25 camper van. I do not know details since he is one of my close friends from Thessaloniki and the walk was to Develiki, Halkidiki Greece. Most of the scenes are handheld and some of them with weebill s...

Sorry, wasn't sure if you wanted the visuals out so you could put other visuals in. You might be able to open it in software like Reaper and export an audio file. I could do it in Vegas Pro, but that costs money. Most video editors could do it.

Hi there Grapes, First of all thanks a lot for the feedback I can’t tell you how valuable it is as most local freelancers seem to be reluctant to give any info. I got 300 overall but it was only a two hour shoot and I probably spent a day and a bit on editing. It was an subcontract! I’m trying to build some promotional material to approach companies with so it was valuable. I purposely didn’t bring my gimbal and I haven’t invested in lights yet but the job was very basic. It was sunny...

For this level of work I feel £250 sounds fair or even cheap. If you'd work on the camera movement e.g. by always using a tripod or gimbal and added a bit of contrast and pop to the colourgrading, you could easily upgrade it to £400 excluding VAT (I'm assuming 250 is also ex VAT) I do hope this is just £250 for a day of shooting and that the total edit comes to around £600-£700 otherwise I'd say you're undercutting the market. No matter how new you are, don't under cut the market. Sure...
