Pinnacle Studio

I tried studio 8 and 8 plus a number of years ago , after I was given it by Pinnacle head office free of charge

they accidentally allowed a sky capture card to be sold in the uk without a CAM module (so totally ILLEGAL) but thats another story

they sent me the DVC 150 and a copy of Studio 8

firstly none of their hardware works with any other software than their own
Studio 8 Could not deal with Progressive scan dvd vids

and all the plugins that i would expect to be there as standard were not and you had to pay for them

I cannot comment on 9 10 and 11 as the performance of 8 was enough to scare me off for life

i since downloaded other pinnacle software for trial.

Liguid edition

no matter what i did it took an hour to render the scene, even down to just cutting and splicing i found that my hardware was enough to cope with the software but even basic vide clips were too much for the software to handle without dedicated hardware encoder cards

so maybe my hardware was not up to it but nothing van deny the fact that the damn programs kept on crashing and they managed to put something in the files that stopped other editors working on it once you had redered it down to an AVI file

im moving in to HI DEF editing and i find that when it comes to a choice of software
anything that says Pinnacle is not to be used

no matter how much they throw at it its still second rate software

unless
you use liquid edition and put as much money in to the hardware as you can (£3000) just on hardware encoders to get the software to run at any kind of normal speed.

there are far better software encoders an editors that perform the same job with far more efficiency than pinnacles proprietary hardware cr*p

bottom line even nero vision express is faster than studio. yes it lack bells and whistles but it gets the basic job done and can encode on dual cores

anything pinnacle score 1 out of 10 i would give them 0 but they did actually get up in the morning and try
