Default Which laptop to buy as desktop replacement?

My Alienware laptop (2 years old) has had continuous hard drive problems (heat issue probably) and Alienware has not been able to fix it, and it's finally gotten to the point where it's interrupting my workflow way too much. My job involves a lot of travel, along with a lot of video editing and Photoshop work, so a high performance laptop is necessary. SO... CNET's ranking of the top 5 desktop replacement laptops include two Gateways (P-171XLFX and P-6831FX), an HP Pavilion (HDX, Intel Core 2 Duo T9300), the MacBook Pro, and the Dell XPS M1730. I also found great reviews for Toshiba's Satellite X205-SLi6.

I'm not a big fan of Gateway, but have not used the others. Any thoughts as to which one I should go with?
