Default Format Choice

I've been trying to learn the basics of video production and I'm about to start my first major project, a series of "How To" woodturning DVD's. My first experimental work resides on YouTube at:

My question is (which shows just what a beginner I am), should I do these DVDs in 4:3 or 16:9? With the recent popularity of wide screen TV’s, do I go that route or should I stick with the older format? My potential audience is broad in age, but will tend to be older (perhaps the last to upgrade to wider TV’s).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
