Default DVD's get stuck

Hello all

This is my first post - any replies/advice gratefully accepted.

I'm cutting 60 minute films in Premiere Pro 1.5 and authoring and burning with Encore using a Sony external DVD burner and Sony DVDs.

The problem I'm having is that is seems to be hit and miss as to whether or not the discs play in a stand alone DVD player.

I've tried exporting as an AVI and then converting to MPEG2 with Main Concept's Media Encoder (downloaded from Adobe)

I've tried exporting as an AVI and transcoding in Encore

I've tried exporting as an MPEG for DVD from Adobe Media Encoder.....

..but still find that it's a lottery as to whether or not the discs will play.

Another thing that I find is that after it's burned to DVD the saturation of the video considerably increases.

Has anyone else ever encountered this or have any tips for reducing the affect?

Is there an optimum way of exporting for DVD from Premiere?

As I say any advice on software, settings workflow etc greatly appreciated.

Cheers

D
