Well, here's he "thang", it was actually a cheap! I'd set my heart on a TFT, and after arming myself with response times and all the jargon that goes with new technology, I eventually settled on an ATEC AL181N -

If you're really picky, you could say that the contrast ratio is lower at 350 : 1 than the 500 : 1 claimed by the big manufacturers, but I honestly am VERY pleased with the monitor. As I say, no dead pixels plus you get a whole host of input connections and optional tv tuner to boot. Oh, and the viewing angle is superb!
Sure, there are better monitors, but not this cheap!!!
