If I'm reading your posts correctly, this is a fairly unique problem: you've captured on a Mac and therefore in Quicktime. You then want to use these captured clips on a PC, and therefore need to convert to AVI.

The quicktime file will be encoded with a DV codec, as would the destination AVI file once transcoded. The codec is the same, it's just the file format that's different. What you needed, if I'm reading your posts correctly, is a quicktime to AVI convertor. This isn't really something that crops up too often: if you capture on a Mac, you generally do all the editing on a Mac.
