Absolutely ALL servers a re down form time to time, if only for routine maintenance so that's not a realistic requirement I'm afraid.

Your issue then becomes one of finding enough disk space if your files are big. Do you not have any web space from your ISP. What about the free web host places like geocities, if they're still free. Never really looked at them so I have no idea what amoutn of web space they'll allow.

I don't imagine anyone will remvoe a file simply because it is too big, unless you've blown your disk allocation.

Of course, if the subject is er, shall we say, unsavoury, then it might get removed I suppose.

One other idea that springs to mind. If you have a broadband connect and are happy to leave your PC on all the time, then install a lightweight web server (omnihttpd?) and then poeple can get at the files from your own hard drive(s).
