I think I may have truly got to the bottom of it this time and am typing it up in case another troglodyte finds him/herself in this neck of the cyber woods. The C drive was badly fragmented and gave a poor data rate reading. After defragging I expected Studio 9 to automatically retest the data rate but not so. The original test remained as the default until I requested Studio to test the data rate again. Ho hum. Thanks
