Then check your manual. Your DV cam may have "analogue passthrough". Essentially this lets you feed an analogue signal to your camcorder, then feed this via firewire to your PC. Neat, huh? Check your manual for a potential £100 saving!

If you're going to do a lot and you're not planning on editing, why not do the easy thang and buy a DVD recorder. For about a £100 you can buy a nice little DVD recorder - whgich has other uses (erm, recoding TV and the like).
