one theme you keep on touching on is patience - how so? do you mean in it taking a while to transfer from camera to PC?

what exactly does "encoding" entail? sorry if that's too simple of a question. i've actually been editing for the past several months and have progressed enough that a jump to the "next level' is needed (better editing program, better PC rig, better camera). that said, i haven't got all the jargon down pat just yet. case in point - just today i learned about CCD and why i would want 3 of them. LOL.

what i like to do is view these user videos and try to get ideas as to what is possible. that's why i'm always asking what camera people use and what editing program they worked with, that way i'll know when i'm making somethign the only thing that is limiting me is my expertise/talent and not my tools. i don't think i'm ready for the professional grade equipment that Alan used, but it's nice to have something to shoot for.
