What motherboard are you using? The motherboard is VERY important - don't scrimp on it and get a cheap one - motherboards are NOT all the same, even if the specifications appear to suggest so.

RAM: Keep it at 1GB for the time being - you'd be best investing your money in an extra hard drive to use for video capture.

Video card: Hypermemory video cards use some of the system memory. Where it says it's 256MB, in reality it's probably 64MB, using 192MB of system RAM. I don't personally know the facts and figures that may relate to it, but i'd probably look for a video card with 256MB on board memory. If budget is your main concern, get something like a 256MB radeon X300 instead. If not, the X600 is a reasonable card for gaming.
