If there's still a bit of the screw sticking out, you can get a pair of plyers on it and unscrew it.

If you don't mind risking your camera, you can open up the housing at the bottom and see if the screw pokes up the other side. (doubtful). You could source a broken XL1 and replace the base cover with your one.

Or you could do the sensible thing and take it to an authorised repairer.
